Mr R&B,Jon Germain Returns With New Hit Song Which Features EL & Dee Moneey

Many people I know, would put aside their Akon and R-kelly tapes and listen to Jon Germain in their stead.

However very few of these people are Ghanaian; they are citizens of the west, who would love to hear the new sound of R'n'B. A sound that fuses the Charlie Wilson type of rhythm and blues, with other experimental sounds.

A sound that fuses the Charlie Wilson type of rhythm and blues, with other experimental sounds.

I dare say that in Africa, Jon Germain can easily be defined as the leader of this sound, blazing a trail that fuses the silky voiced stories, told in true R'n'B pattern and mashed with other sounds like rock and Hip-hop. This style has been brought to life in may songs from both his debut and sophomore albums with songs like Quiver, Monday, Breathless, Can't explain and more.

Jon Germain's most recent attempt at making good music, breaks the bar. Being a writer with a thirst for both good music and exclusives, I make it a point to periodically check on the Channel O Awards nominee. A month ago, I finally heard what my ears have been itching for- Jon Germain has new music and I had to hear it first.

Jon Germain Thrills The International Community At The Regeneration Festival Concert With Mutabaruka

As Jon Germain celebrates 20 years of broadcasting this year, let us stay reminded that he is beyond just broadcaster, He is also a class-act musician.

Jon Germain is probably the proverbial prophet who isn't revered in his home. With accolades and performances internationally, a song which is ranked 8th best love song in the world and Ghana's only R'n'B album in the past two years, Jon Germain has what it takes to stand toe-to-toe with A-List musicians like Charlie Wilson.

The musician, who used to spot braids back in the day, was recently spotted at  the Aburi Gardens, where he performed to a section of the international community in Ghana.

The event was the climax of the Regeneration Festival, which celebrated African culture and health, supported by the ministry of health and ministry of tourism. On the bill included the Oiada international Band, JahWi, Ras Aware and Jamaican dub legend Muta Baruka.

It was a surprise to see Jon Germain, listed amongst these reggae acts, as the only musician performing a genre outside the walls of reggae.

Spotting a simple outfit, Jon Germain took the stage with guitarist, Owura. He delivered a spectacular acoustic rendition of hits like, In My Head and Tell me.

At  this point many seats on the grounds were empty, as many patrons approached the stage to get a better view of Jon Germain. Mr. Germain set the tone for the audience to get romantic, as many lovers found refuge in each others arms, swinging to the suiting sound of music.

Stop Comparing Me To Efya – Sista Afia Cries

Female high life singer by name Sista Afia seems not to be happy with the way people compare her to RnB singer and performer, Efya.

Sista Afia in a recent interview asked? Why is it that almost every interview that I go, there is this question that the host asks me – Have you noticed that you sound similar like Efya?

According to her, her style is different from that of Efya.

Her words below.

I believe in myself and I know I don’t sound like Efya. Why is this common to every host that interviews me? Well, I admit to be a new comer and that I came to meet the likes of Efya, but I don’t understand the comparison here. You can listen to songs by Efya and listen to songs by myself, you will know for a fact that we are two different people with different styles.

Sista Afia went ahead to talk about her name that rhymes the same as Efya.

Guru - Hardwork Overlooked By VGMA

Over the years, even though the award winning hit maker Guru been consistent with dropping hits after hits, being given all his deserving awards for those hit songs at the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards never happened even though in certain instances it was obvious he deserve to win certain categories.

This situation has gotten so serious to a point that people who are not even Guru fans have seen that he has not been treated fairly over the years.

And from his point of view he deserves the artist of the year for 2016

with a picture of Guru, Ransford Kumi  on his face book page wrote;

“Music Awards in Ghana Have not been fair to Guru especially VGMA.Even though am not a fan of Guru but Personally I think the Lapaz Toyota hit maker for the pass 3 years has put in much effort in his works and the music industry as a whole..Well,from my point of view,i think Guru deserves the 2016 artist of the year Award if Shatta Wale is not nominated”
VGMA 2015 will be held soon and like Kumi wrote we hope he will be treated fairly by awarding all his deserving awards.
