Jon Germain Thrills The International Community At The Regeneration Festival Concert With Mutabaruka

As Jon Germain celebrates 20 years of broadcasting this year, let us stay reminded that he is beyond just broadcaster, He is also a class-act musician.

Jon Germain is probably the proverbial prophet who isn't revered in his home. With accolades and performances internationally, a song which is ranked 8th best love song in the world and Ghana's only R'n'B album in the past two years, Jon Germain has what it takes to stand toe-to-toe with A-List musicians like Charlie Wilson.

The musician, who used to spot braids back in the day, was recently spotted at  the Aburi Gardens, where he performed to a section of the international community in Ghana.

The event was the climax of the Regeneration Festival, which celebrated African culture and health, supported by the ministry of health and ministry of tourism. On the bill included the Oiada international Band, JahWi, Ras Aware and Jamaican dub legend Muta Baruka.

It was a surprise to see Jon Germain, listed amongst these reggae acts, as the only musician performing a genre outside the walls of reggae.

Spotting a simple outfit, Jon Germain took the stage with guitarist, Owura. He delivered a spectacular acoustic rendition of hits like, In My Head and Tell me.

At  this point many seats on the grounds were empty, as many patrons approached the stage to get a better view of Jon Germain. Mr. Germain set the tone for the audience to get romantic, as many lovers found refuge in each others arms, swinging to the suiting sound of music.

Guru - Hardwork Overlooked By VGMA

Over the years, even though the award winning hit maker Guru been consistent with dropping hits after hits, being given all his deserving awards for those hit songs at the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards never happened even though in certain instances it was obvious he deserve to win certain categories.

This situation has gotten so serious to a point that people who are not even Guru fans have seen that he has not been treated fairly over the years.

And from his point of view he deserves the artist of the year for 2016

with a picture of Guru, Ransford Kumi  on his face book page wrote;

“Music Awards in Ghana Have not been fair to Guru especially VGMA.Even though am not a fan of Guru but Personally I think the Lapaz Toyota hit maker for the pass 3 years has put in much effort in his works and the music industry as a whole..Well,from my point of view,i think Guru deserves the 2016 artist of the year Award if Shatta Wale is not nominated”
VGMA 2015 will be held soon and like Kumi wrote we hope he will be treated fairly by awarding all his deserving awards.

Ghanaian Rapper In Trouble After Calling Some Musicians To Be Fake

The rate at which rappers in Ghana keep claiming the I Am The Best title is getting way too annoying.

In almost every rap song you listen, there is a line that goes like - I am the best---Ya'll rappers not on my level---Dont compare me to the other rappers, etc.

Truth is, it isnt bad if you tell the world you are good at what you are doing but the question is, will every rapper claim the title of being the best? If yes, then who should we listen to? I guess thats up to us.

Back to the matter, Ghanaian rapper by name Samuel Frimpong, popularly known as Medikal just got himself in the hot waters of Ghanaians after calling some rappers in Ghana to be fake.

Signed under Arab Money Gang with Criss Waddle, the P3 Kakra rapper on Joy News said most rappers in Ghana brag in their songs. Explaining himself, Medikal said, most rappers in Ghana talk about big things yet do not live up to those things they are rapping about.

According to him, to be a real rapper, you need to put your feelings in your rap verses, your hustle and struggle need to be felt in your rap, but not talk about things you only dream of.
